About me
Hello! My name is Filippo, and I spent the past eight years between British and American universities. I received my education in London and Oxford before pursuing a PhD at Princeton University.
During my time as a postgraduate student in Oxford, I started to help out friends and acquaintances who wished to apply to British universities. Very soon I came to realize that all too often what made the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful applicant was neither brightness nor hard work, but rather a steady command of the forms of academic writing.
For this reason, about six years ago I embarked on a journey of discovery and apprenticeship on some of the major online platforms for tutoring. Students would contact me with queries regarding what colleges to apply to, how to write an outstanding personal statement (no, ChatGPT won’t do it), how to structure an essay or a research proposal… it was a resounding success. Under my guidance, their chances of admission into their dream college(s) increased dramatically. I, on the other hand, gained first-hand experience of the inner workings of college admissions in top-tier universities as well as small liberal arts colleges.
Services
I work with high-school, undergraduate, and graduate students who wish to apply to––or are currently enrolled in––any English-speaking institution (USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, etc.).
With years of experience as a student, teacher, and tutor, I take it as my mission to make your college application shine and stand out among thousands. My services include (but are not limited to):
- pre-application consulting (i.e. how to choose what university to apply to based on your interests and background)
- revision of the application package from start to finish (statement of purpose/personal statement, CV, personal history statement, research proposal, etc.)
- post-application consulting (i.e. what university to apply to, and how to comb through your admission offers)
- general help with all forms of academic writing (essays, dissertations, theses, etc.).
My expertise is in the humanities––literature(s), history, philosophy, etc.––where I have curated graduate-level research projects in a number of fields. I am equally qualified to offer all-round academic support to undergraduate students (all fields). I do not, however, offer advice on research projects in the sciences.
