What do you do, exactly?
As a writing tutor, my overarching goal is to school you in the subtleties of academic writing. Under my guidance, you can expect to develop your writing as well as you critical thinking skills.
As for the practicalities of my work, I engage with your writing on every level, from spelling to structure and argument. I will polish your syntax, grammar, vocabulary, etc. At the end of your work you will find a comprehensive evaluation, and suggestions on the directions to take. It goes without saying that you have the final word on every choice.
Do you provide 100% guarantee of success?
No. And beware of those who do. What I can guarantee 100% is that your application will meet all the requirements to be considered seriously by the application committee.
Would it not be easier to ask ChatGPT—or any other LLM—to write the essay for me?
ChatGPT—or any other large language model—may work great to botch a couple of insubstantial business emails, or to summarize an article. But if you are to write something that conveys the breadth of your thinking and feeling, these tools simply will not do. You want to write something distinctly personal. In order to do so, you will have to go through your own process of critical thinking, and let your writing develop accordingly. Besides, as you may well imagine, now more than ever application committees are on the watch for essays generated by artificial intelligence.

How long will it take you to revise the material I sent you?
That largely depends on the material itself. The timeline ranges from a couple of hours for personal statements and CVs, to several days or even weeks in the case of longer pieces of writing.
